Purpose
Our purpose is train Men of God in the Word of God to do the Work of God through the Church of God. Graduates will receive a thorough knowledge of Scripture, recognizing its biblical implementation in the local assembly, and be required to display biblical conviction in carrying out all the counsel of God.

BACHELOR OF DIVINITY (B.Div.)
For students who do not hold an undergraduate degree but still wish to pursue a graduate education, this degree is prepared with them in mind. The student will take the M.Div. courses combined with 32 credit hours of undergraduate work. This totals 128 credit hours. Upon completion of the undergraduate degree the seminarian then becomes eligible to persue graduate degrees.


MASTER DEGREES
Applicants to all Master Degree programs musthold a Bachelor Degree from an approved institution.

MASTER OF BIBLICAL STUDIES (M.B.S.)
This degree program is designed for the student who seeks a seminary-level, biblical and theological education to prepare them for the Baptist ministry as a pastor, missionary, youth pastor, Bible teacher or Christian worker in local church positions. A minimum of 32 semester hours or credit must be completed for the Master of Biblical Studies degree. All grades applied to this degree must be B or better (B for transfer).

MASTER OF DIVINITY (M.Div.)
This degree program is a three-year curriculum in seminary level theological study to prepare the student for the ministry of the Word of God as Baptist pastors, missionaries, evangelists, youth pastors, Bible teachers, translation workers, counselors or other local church ministers. A minimum of 96 semester hours or credit must be completed for the Master of Divinity (M.Div) degree. All grades applied to this degree must be B or better (C for transfer). A minimum of 32 semester credit hours must be completed in residence, including the final semester. Applicants may be required to make up deficiencies in any department without credit at the discretion of the Academic Committee. Bibliology, Baptist Polity and Baptist History are required if not taken in prior academic work. A 100 page master's thesis is required for this degree. Approval for the thesis topic must be granted from the academic committee prior to the commencement of work on the project. This will usually be done at the beginning of the senior Year.

DOCTORAL DEGREES

DOCTOR OF MINISTRY (D.Min.)
The Doctor of Ministry program is designed for independent, Baptist pastors, missionaries, youth pastors and other ministers who desire further study in a particular field such as church administration, pastoral counseling or missions. The DMin requires an MDiv degree and an additional 32 credit hours of independent research, including 6 credit hours of dissertation research. The DMin candidate must successfully write and defend a 200 page (45,000 words) dissertation on an approved subject. He must maintain a B average in the DMin program and successfully pass an oral examination in his area of concentration. He must also pass a Greek or Hebrew language proficiency test.

Requirements for the DMin Candidate

  1. Apply for admission into the DMin program by letter.
  2. Be accepted into the DMin program by the academic committee. This acceptance will be based on previous academic performance, a record of financial responsibility and the ability to fulfill graduate assistant requirements.
  3. Be involved as a Graduate Assistant in BBTS during one year of candidacy.
  4. Fulfill all academic requirements, including the approval of a dissertation topic, writing the dissertation and successfully defending it and binding the dissertation in two hardback copies.

DOCTOR OF THEOLOGY (Th.M./Th.D.)

Requirements for the ThM/ThD Candidate

  1. The candidate must have the MDiv or equivalent (i.e., BBTS MDiv) degree for the ThM and the ThM or equivalent (i.e., BBTS DMin) for the ThD.
  2. The candidate must have at least 6 semesters of Greek (3 years) and 4 semesters of Hebrew (2 years).
  3. The candidate must request admission to the ThM/ThD program and have an acceptance letter from the Dean (which includes an evaluation of the candidate's spiritual, theological, financial, and purpose statements).
  4. The candidate must have a recommendation letter from his home church pastor.

Course Requirements

  1. Only 800 level courses and higher will be applied in the ThM/ThD program. All of the ThM courses must be taken in residence at BBTS (or in campus modules). One half of the credit hours for the ThD must be taken in residence (or in campus modules).
  2. The candidates Major Area of Concentration (MAC) must be declared in either Biblical Studies (Old Testament exegesis or New Testament Exegesis) or Theological Studies (Systematic Theology of Historical Theology).
  3. No credit will be transferred into the BBTS ThD program from another institution.
  4. The candidate must obtain faculty approval for his dissertation topic and ably write and successfully defend his dissertation of at least 300 pages (ThM-250 pages).
  5. The candidate must take thirty-two (32) credit hours for the ThM and an additional thirty-two (32) credit hours for the ThD of course work from the following. Connecticut residents will pay $110 per credit hour, while non-Connecticut residents will pay $125 an hour.
